Republic of Korea - 대한민국

Jeju-do, Republic of Korea
The Republic of Korea can be broadly defined into three regions; north, central, and south. The northern region lies above the demarcation set at the end of the Korean War in 1953, now referred to as the Korean Demilitarized Zone, and the independent country of North Korea.
The central region extends from the area below the demarcation line, including the capital area of Seoul and Incheon and the provinces of Gyeonggi-do, Gangwon-do, and Chungcheong-do. The cities of Pyongtaek and Sejong are also included here.
The southern region includes Jeolla-do, Gyeongsang-do, and Jeju-do. The cities of Gwangju, Busan, and Ulsan are included here.
For ease of understanding and navigation the northern region (DPRK) has been removed from this page. The central southern regions are delineated here along with the capital area.
U.S. Forces Korea oversees bases throughout the country. Links to these installations can be found here. The Republic of Korea Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps operate with the United States. Reference for these forces can be found here.
